Clarence Edward Blake, aka Milytant, was born July 14, 1975 in Manchester, Jamaica W.I. He was raised in a setting so rich in music that it was naturally a huge part of his up-bringing. Clarence’s greatest influences in music are his two older brothers, Arnold and Adrian Blake, whom perform at numerous events throughout Jamaica. Other influential musicians include artistic pioneers such as Peter Tosh, Culture, Burning Spear, Bob Marley, John Holt, Horace Andy and many more.

 

At the age of 12, Clarence migrated to Bronx, NY where he began singing. By this time he was listening to Rap, Hip Hop, R&B and Soul which he now incorporates in his own style. As his skill progressed he took his craft more seriously. Clarence is often told he has such a powerful and commanding voice, one not to be reckoned with, and should not give up on such a God-given gift.

 

Clarence has since been blessed with opportunities to grace the stage with many world renowned artists in Reggae, Rap, and Hip Hop industries. He has performed opening acts for Bounty Killa, Beenie Man, Capleton, Lady Saw, Luciano, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, The Locs and many others. Milytant has also performed solo acts at the Apollo Theater in NY, The Nikki Summer Fest, SOB’s night club in New York, The Main Stage in Chicago and various night clubs throughout the country. As Milytant continues to embark in his musical career, he firmly believes that music finds souls and he hopes and pray that the messages of his lyrics will have a positive impact on all of its listeners.

 

In respect to all the artists of the today and tomorrow, Mr. Blake says “Never give up on your hopes and dreams because the only one who could truly fail you is yourself”.
